Hawke’s Bay Airport’s new timber fire station won the Public Architecture category at the 2026 Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay Regional Architecture Awards. Notable for a building whose structure is glulam and cross-laminated timber rather than steel — a combustible material, in the one building type meant to fight fire.

Chief Leonard George is a 9-storey mass timber social housing project in East Vancouver with childcare and Coast Salish-inspired design. Built to Passive House standards, it uses prefabricated timber panels to speed construction and reduce carbon impact.

CookFox Architects has designed a mass timber Bruce Springsteen museum at Monmouth University in New Jersey. The mass timber structure — some of which has been left exposed at the ceiling and in the supporting columns, opened in May 2026.
