Concept Lab are proud to announce that they have successfully deployed 3 of their Timber Concrete Nodes (TCNz) at the new Marpole Community Centre in South Vancouver as a pilot demonstration of the new product! The installation highlighted several of the key TCN product features:
High Tolerances – The beams slid easily into place on the TCN connections, whereas metal hangers may bind and be damaged due to misalignment.
High Capacity – The TCNs for this project are made from UHPC and were designed and tested to support 57kip (255 kN) on each side.
Simplified Installation – Only 4 self-tapping screws were required for each TCN location, compared to 208 screws for the alternative metal hangers at each column.
Cost Savings – One TCN provides a double-sided beam connection plus the column splice, simplifying construction and reducing connector costs.
