Mass timber projects are transforming how we build—but navigating the insurance landscape for new building technologies can be challenging. To support project teams through this critical phase, WoodWorks has consulted with insurance professionals to develop a Mass Timber Course of Construction Insurance Project Questionnaire + Checklist. This practical tool is designed to help owners, developers, contractors, and design teams collect and communicate essential project details to their insurance providers.
WoodWorks Issue – 30 Sep 2025
Welcome
Greetings from your WoodWorks team. Check out this video of a new connector concept for prefabricated timber walls being presented by Holmes at the Building 4.0 CRC Showcase in Sydney.
One for the developers (and engineers) – what applications would suit the spans achievable with laminated beams and components made from Australian hardwoods – check out the video of the CIT building in Australia.
Murray Sturgeon is retiring at the end of September 2025, concluding a long and respected career in the forestry and wood processing industries, where he served as Chairman of Nelson Pine Industries Ltd, Tasman Pine Industries Ltd, and Sumitomo Forestry New Zealand Ltd.
Nearing completion, this fantastic building is intended to provide affordable housing in the heart of downtown Vancouver. It’s not just a pleasing exterior design that sets this project apart from so many others, read on to delve into some design features.
And another one for the engineers (or anybody really). We ran this story back in June, but this is a fascinating sequel of a design review of the KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence – an aircraft-shaped flight museum next to the Kelowna International Airport.
Mass timber projects are revolutionising construction, and WoodWorks has created a practical tool to help project teams navigate the insurance landscape. Download for free.
