Illawarra Grammar School – Australia’s first all-CLT school

11 November 2025

It’s exciting to see The Illawarra Grammar School project taking shape — soon to be Australia’s first all-CLT school designed to the International Passivhaus Standard.

A lot of innovative thinking has gone into this carbon-neutral design: CLT post-and-beam structure, newly developed quick-click connectors, triple-glazed timber windows, full timber façade, and over 1,000 m² of green roof.

The building includes flexible learning spaces for Junior and Senior classes, a new library, STEM areas and an auditorium  all within a healthy, low-energy environment.
