Johns Hopkins University’s new student center in Baltimore is a world-class space that will serve as a social engagement hub for the Hopkins community.
Designed and built in collaboration with BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, Shepley Bulfinch, knippershelbig, and Clark Construction Group. The project is slated to open later this year.
Key design elements include extensive two-way cantilevered roof planes, dowel laminated timber panels with integrated acoustic treatment, and a transparent façade wrapping around the structure. Lateral forces are resisted by a mixture of concrete shear walls, cable braced frames, and CLT shear walls.
