The Great Wooden Turkey

Trent Debth, VP and Founder of TimberBLDR: “Today, I’m thrilled to announce TimberBLDR kicked off construction on what will undoubtedly be the most iconic structure of our portfolio: The Great Wooden Turkey. This 150-foot-tall mass timber masterpiece will serve as a jaw-dropping showcase of engineering, sustainability, and… holiday spirit.

The structure’s framework you see here in this rendering is only the beginning. A robust Freres Wood Mass Ply shell will eventually cover the skeleton, consisting of 612 precision-cut panels. We’re currently in the optimization phase of the nesting model to reduce waste and maximize efficiency—because every inch of timber matters when building something this monumental.

Here are a few project stats to digest:

• Embodied Carbon Savings: By using mass timber instead of traditional steel and concrete, we estimate a 1,800-ton reduction in CO₂ emissions, equivalent to removing 1,400 cars from the road for an entire year.

• Structural Hardware: The design will incorporate over 85 tons of Simpson Strong-Tie connectors and fasteners, ensuring this bird stays grounded, even against the windiest of Thanksgivings.

While this may seem like the most ambitious timber project to date, here’s the real kicker: it’s also the most fictional. That’s right—The Great Wooden Turkey is 100% a joke (but admit it, you almost believed me).

Happy Thanksgiving! May your plates be full, your gatherings be joyful, and your projects—real or imagined—be as inspiring as this one.”
